Why choose the
U.S.S.S.A. National Basketball Program?
The United States Specialty Sports Association (U.S.S.S.A.), is a national
organization formed with the purpose to organize and promote youth
basketball, to perpetuate their interest and love of the game, and provide an opportunity for teams to compete in tournaments and league
competition that leads to area, state, and national championships in their
respective competitive classes.
Key benefits to participation in the U.S.S.S.A.
basketball program:
The youth basketball program is grade-oriented with age limitations -- no
confusing "age exception" rules.
The program is the first to offer separate divisions within
each age group so that teams at all skill levels have the opportunity to
compete:
Division I -- premier/all-star teams
Division II -- competitive teams that are primarily school or
community based teams
Division III -- recreational or league based teams
Area, State, and National Tournaments in each division.
Season-long qualifying – Teams may earn qualification points for national and
state championship events at any U.S.S.S.A. sanctioned tournament, no matter
what time of year the event is held. Some events even allow teams to
qualify directly for the National Championship. This provides the best
opportunity for your team to overcome poor performance or a difficult schedule
at a single event.
U.S.S.S.A. has developed a national team ranking system that allows all teams to
measure their progress against competition on not only a local but national
basis. Teams are ranked on a state and national basis based entirely on
results of participation in U.S.S.S.A. sanctioned events. This ranking system
is web-based, open to all U.S.S.S.A. registered teams, and includes
results form each and every event, including scores, point differential, etc.
Each team can develop
its own website within the U.S.S.S.A. national website to post schedules,
rosters, and provide player recognition and exposure. PowerPoint tutorials are available for
training.
U.S.S.S.A. has a proven history of more than 40 years of success. It is rapidly growing with over 10,000 teams
participating nationally, represented by over 40 states.
The U.S.S.S.A. Steering Committee is comprised of basketball
purists, not bureaucrats, who have developed a nationwide network of event operators with similar
goals and objectives and simple playing rules.
U.S.S.S.A. has developed a team insurance program that represents the best value in our industry and covers players and coaches at practices, camps,
including travel, and even insures at non-U.S.S.S.A. basketball events.
The U.S.S.S.A. Basketball event website provides comprehensive listings of local, area, state, and national events.
